For the price the hostel was great! And when every we had any diffixulties the staff help out wounderfully. So I whould Definietlly recomend the place to someone traveling on a budget. But if you stay be ready for some primitiv living in some regards.
Not far from Batthyany metro station. Can easily make your way back into city centre. Not entirely easy to meet people unless you're sharing a room. Staff friendly generally, but not always good with English. Good value for money. And clean facilities. Was stuck with no accommodation in the whole of Budapest, and they were kind enough to find me something in their sister hostel. Much appreciated.
This is a good budget hostel in a great, central location. We stayed here during Sziget Festival and it was really easy to access the festival via train and explore the city. The hostel is comfortable/clean and facilities are good - you get what you pay for so this is a great option for a budget hostel in Budapest :)
About a half an hour walk from city centre, 15mins from the castle. Rooms were very spacious!! Beds were okay, typical hostel bedding. Constant hot water, good wifi. Can tell it's not full time hostel, could do with a bit more information on attractions and such. Kitchen is average, hot plate, sink fridge, few pots and pans, could do with a few more though, but manageable. End of the day you get what you pay for, cheap hostel still would go back if was on a budget.
I suppose this is really the best choice for stay in Budapest. You come out from the house and on the left side you see the stairs to the Buda hill - this is direct way to the castle. In 2 minutes you can reach the embankment with the great view of Dunai and Parliament. Hostel is inside the large house with smart chestnut tree higher than the house and green grass. Showers and WC are always available and they are new and comfortable with always hot water. Staff is very attentive. Thank you!
When I arrived at Season Hostel, I was worried! The front door was rusty and the sign was written on a piece of A4 paper and stuck on the door. The court yard we were lead in to was tired looking and had planks of wood and other bits and pieces everywhere. However, this turned out to be a great hostel! Our room was basic (as expected at the price) but very spacious and comfortable. The wifi worked very well, we could actually face time from our room! The laundry service offered by the owner was very handy too!
Overall, this welcoming family run hostel was perfect for a few nights in Budapest on our interrailing trip!
I really liked season hostel, particularly due to the friendly staff. They were very helpful and detailed us on the different places to go and how to get around. The rooms and facilities are very basic but it's a hostel, what do you expect? I was a little bit wary of the showers which didn't have shower curtains but a couple of days later the lady at the desk was making some and they went up that evening.
The kitchen has a hob but no oven which was a bit annoying for making dinner but again it did the job. No kettle though.
Overall it was perfect for what we needed in Budapest. It was easy to get to the centre and the area was quiet and a change from the busy party parts of Pest.
Perhaps I am being a tad harsh on the Season hostel but it wasn't that great but lets start with the positives.
The lady at reception was absolutely lovely, so polite, would answer all our questions, give us advice etc etc. On hostelworld the main thing that let them down was service, so either the reviewers of hostelworld are all liars or they're listened and learned. Though I will say the night time staff were not bad, just a bit 'cold'.
As for the hostel itself, it was exceptionally cheap but then again a lot of places are in Budapest. We (four) stayed in a six bed dorm. The hostel had evidently been some form of boarding school accommodation - which they hadn't renovated at all - but that kind of gave it a unique feel.
The showers are pretty poor. It's a 'push the button' system like you'd find in a swimming pool and the water was cold, though as it was so desperately hot that wasn't really an issue after the first two seconds.
If you're looking to go out at night and party check the weather forecast for the next day. You may wonder why? There's no air conditioning so the room can get extraordinarily hot, unbearable in fact. Sleeping facilities are pretty good though all things (price) considered.
The kitchen i basic.
As for location, pretty good overall. It's in Buda which was a nice change from when I stayed a couple years ago in Pest. The trams run right past it and we didn't pay for one tehe, plus it's right next to a shopping mall, spa and a few bars etc.
Overall it was average. I'd assume you may be able to find somewhere better but I probably would go back just for the receptionist and the attractive price.
